Yet again for their sixth mission the Operation Hernia team – a group of surgeons and nurses drawn mainly from the Leighton Hospital in Cheshire – have been out in Ghana providing vital and often life-saving surgery to numbers of hernia sufferers in rural Africa.
As in previous years Eschmann have supported this endeavour, this time giving the Operation Hernia team two Little Sister Autoclaves and three Diathermy machines. Magdi Hanafy, Consultant Surgeon at the Leighton Hospital, and leader of the Operation Hernia team, has since reported ‘We are back from this year’s mission where we achieved much more than any of the previous years. Thanks to your reliable sterilisers and diathermy machines everything went very smooth indeed’.
Indeed the 2011 report shows that more procedures were carried out (280) on more patients (211) than in previous years and already the list of patients for next year is looking full. It’s good to know, therefore, that our products are once again enabling some of the poorest people in the world to benefit from what the team themselves describe as a ‘life changing experience’.
